W Hotels Goes Designer

These days, truly anyone can come out with a fashion line, though this seems more logical than Harvard's recent toe-dip into the fashion pool.

During Fashion's Night Out on September 10th, the W Hotels luxury brand will introduce Global Glam, an apparel and accessories collection designed by 34 new and known designers, like David Aubrey, Foley + Corina, Lauren Merkin, VIX, and Wink, with prices ranging from $50 to $500. Designers will make appearances at W Hotels the Store Times Square and 541 Lexington locations.

With the likes of those designers, it's no surprise that the line is cute. But it's really, really cute!

Eva Ziegler, global brand leader of W, said "W is a design-led brand, therefore fashion is a tool to engage our guests in design. The people we're after are trendsetters and fashion-forward. We have a passion for fashion."

With plans to expand from 30 hotels to 60 by 2012, Ziegler says that "we wanted fashion to be a tool to communicate W's global expansion. Every hotel we're opening has a distinctive look, feel, and design narrative. The idea was to create items inspired by five new W properties in downtown Manhattan; South Beach in Miami, Santiago, Chile, Hong Kong, and Istanbul."

The hotel chain plans to release two collections per year in cohesion with new properties to open in Hollywood, Washington, London, Paris, Barcelona, and Thailand.
