New Balance Vs. LVMH

Did LVMH steal a design from New Balance? According to New Balance they did!

The athletic shoe company has filed a complaint with the U.S. District Court in Boston that LVMH's Minstrel sneaker borrows too heavily from New Balance's 574 model.

The suit claims “Louis Vuitton’s deliberate attempt to trade off of the New Balance trade dress is clear from the fact that the principal color in which the Minstrel is offered is a gray/gray colorway that, in conjunction with the New Balance trade dress, is exclusively associated with New Balance as source."

You'd think of all companies LVMH would know better, especially since they just won not one, but two lawsuits!

New Balance is even using a comparison made by Nicekicks.com, who also noticed a striking resemblance between the two shoes.

The site said, “Besides minute changes such as toebox details and added metal eyelets, the shoes are virtually identical".

Inneresting.

What do U think? Is LVMH "borrowing" from New Balance? Or is New Balance just looking for money?
