The Emanuel Ungaro collaboration with Lindsay Lohan seems like a worse and worse decision the more we hear about it.
According to reports, Ungaro president Mounir Moufarrige met with five celebrities, including Madonna and Paris Hilton, before choosing Lindsay to be the "artistic advisor," for the fashion house.
As far as those three go, the only real thing they have in common is tabloid presence. Madonna is insanely powerful and considered a fashion icon, but we doubt she would do this, especially with her ties to Louis Vuitton.
And, while Paris, like Lindsay, is known for her partying ways, she's considerably older than Lindsay and draws a different crowd.
And Lindsay's just a mess.
Moufarrige says that when, "reaching out for the consumer, it is celebrities who attract a huge degree of attention."
Yeah - in ad campaigns! Lindsay is hardly qualified to artistically advise anyone. The more he talks, the more it seems like he would've taken anyone whose name would get people talking.
He goes on to say that Lindsay will bring, "something younger, more cool, with a different attitude. She knows clothes…She will be a travelling advertisement."
There is actually nothing in that statement we agree with. Ungaro is not an "old" label as it stands. In fact, with a history of bold prints and short skirts, we'd say it's downright youthful.
Lindsay really isn't the "coolest" dresser. And as far as attitude goes, well, she has a history of having a very bad one.
Knowing clothes shouldn't qualify her to advise a designer on how to make them.
And as far as the traveling advertisement bit goes, well, let's hope he got that in writing, because so far she has refused to do press for Ungaro.
We hope he knows what he's doing!
