Coach Inc is suing Target over trademark infringement for damages, injunctive relief and attorney fees, claiming that the affordable retailer is selling handbags that are essentially knock-offs of two of the luxury handbag company's desgins.
According to Coach, Target is carrying handbags that are "exact and/or confusingly similar reproductions of Coach's Ergo designs and Signature Patchwork bags," both of which were put out by Coach in 2008. Target started selling the bags in question this past summer.
In 2006, Coach sued Target for a different handbag, and the two companies settled out of court.
Target had no comment.
