Trovata Reaches Settlement With Forever 21

Trovata and Forever 21 have finally come to a settlement after two years of litigation and one mistrial when the jury became deadlocked in a decision.

The Newport Beach, California based company, claimed back in 2007 that Forever 21 "willfully and intentionally copied its designs on seven garments." The company also specifically charged the retail chain with "trade dress infringement", which in legal jargon means the visual appearance of a product that links it to a particular brand in consumers' minds.

So basically they stole the design and ca$$$hed in on it, to the tune of $529,000 in sales from the copied garments.

And for a small retailer like Trovata that's a lot of money they missed out on.

This isn't the first time Forever 21 has had legal problems. The retailer has been sued more than 50 TIMES in regards to design infringement in the past four years.

Dayummm! That's almost 13 suits a year.

You'd think after so many legal problems Forever 21 would stop stealing other company's ideas! Especially when the company prints biblical references on their bags! What would John say?

We're glad to see the little guy won for once.
