As we've mentioned earlier this week Christian Louboutin has teamed up with Mattel, the maker of Barbie, to create 3 customized dolls, which were inspired by Nefertiti and Marilyn Monroe.
As part of the one year partnership Louboutin has already created Barbie-pink shoes with his signature red soles which premiered at Barbie's birthday earlier this year, the Barbie dolls with an accessories collection and a diary of images of both the shoe designer and Barbie while exploring Louboutin's favorite things.
Christian has already caused commotion by altering the doll's ankles after saying they were too fat.
But Louboutin wanted to clarify his original claim about the doll's alleged cankles: "Barbie’s foot has always been shaped less ‘curvy’ than the rest of her perfect body. I just added my little science to Barbie and I’ve been proud to serve her. But fat ankles she didn’t have, she just could have had thinner ankles. That’s all."
Alright, we'll give him that.
We wouldn't mind getting an overhaul on our ankles if Louboutin was making us shoes! Ha!
He's even gone as far as apologizing for the comment. “I apologize to my goddaughter [Barbie]. There has been a bit of confusion there, but it’s just the proof that Barbie has real serious fans.”
OK, that's taking it a little too far there, Christian.
The dolls will have a staggered release, but we're sure Barbie collectors will be more than happy to wait. The first Barbie, which has a release date of December will be a jewel-thief-themed doll. Two months later in February a safari-themed Barbie will be released. And the final Barbie, which is designed to go to the Cannes Film Festival will be up for sale in May.
For the price of $150, each doll will come with four pairs of Barbie-size Louboutin heels and the doll itself will be packaged in Louboutin shoe boxes.
We like that idea!
And for those who are really obsessed with you Barbie having the designer shoes you can by a 12 pair Louboutin collection for $40.
Dayum! That's a lot of shiz for the 50 year old doll that already has accumulate 1 BILLION SHOES over the years.
We're jealous!!!
The diary titled My Year in Paris with Christian Louboutin will come with the first released doll, but will also be sold separately for 40 bucks.
The Barbie fanatics better start saving now!
