Nicole Richie Announces Winter Kate

As expected, Nicole Richie is adding a contemporary line of clothging, Winter Kate, to her designer resume. Much like her successful accessories line, House of Harlow, the clothing line is named after her daughter, Harlow Winter Kate Madden.

Set to debut in spring, the line will feature 37 pieces and will sell at high-end department stores and boutiques like Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Ron Herman, Intermix, Kitson, Nordstrom and Bloomingdales.

Richie says, "It feels as though I've always been working on this collection, but officially I started putting it together in early 2009. I've wanted to design a clothing collection for a very long time."

Not surprisingly, the collection will feature tops, vests, bed jackets, slip dresses and maxidresses with a vintage feel, a reflection of Richie's own iconic boho-retro style.

Similar to House of Harlow, Winter Kate targets a luxury demographic, with wholesale prices ranging from $35 for a camisole to $110 for a long kimono dress and up to $598 for various leather items. Let's hope she has the goods to back it up!

Nicole says that the woman who wears Winter Kate is the same woman who would wear House of Harlow: "She is a woman like me. She does not look at labels; she knows how to mix and match. The pieces can be dressed up, made casual, but most importantly, they provide the wearer a means of self-expression and fun."

Given her success with House of Harlow and her maternity collection, Nicole for A Pea In The Pod, we don't doubt that she'll put together a stylish and wearable collection.
