Betsey Johnson is having some work done, but not personally!

The fun and fancy-free designer has decided its time to give her boutiques a makeover. CEO of Betsey Johnson, Chantal Bacon said, "Instead of the bright pink stores, we've decided to make them all very sparse and white in order to have a backdrop which allows you to see the clothes better. It's also fun for us to introduce something new."

The inspiration comes from Johnson's personal move from living in downtown Manhattan to the Upper East Side. After having lived downtown for about forty years, the designer said she suddenly grew an affinity for "uptown chic," and consequently modeled her new home to be a mix of updown and downtown style. The product is open white spaces with her signature funk intertwined, and she loved it so much she thought it would be a good look for her boutiques.

The decision to redecorate comes just in time for the opening of seven to ten new Betsey Johnson boutiques, set to open within the next year. Additionally, all 63 of the Betsey Johnson boutiques already in existence will be madeover to share the fresh aesthetic.

"This new store design comes at a perfecit time for us as we are adding some more casual, T-shirt dressing-like pieces to the collection. We will be much more well-rounded in terms of product category, so it will be great to see all of this product displayed in our newly designed stores," said Bacon.

Kudos!
