Finally this model family can have some peace of mind!
The man who allegedly tried to extort money from Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber has turned himself into German police.
German-native Edis Kayalar, 26, has been charged with trying to extort $100,000 from the couple by threatening to publish a photograph of their daughter, Kaia, bound to a chair. Kaia told her parents that her former nanny, an acquaintance of Kayalar, had taken the photo as part of a cops and robbers game. Neither Cindy nor Rande had knowledge of the photograph prior to Kayalar's threats, though this isn't the first time he's threatened the couple.
As we told you before, Kayalar had originally received 1,000 from the couple as a reward for returning the photograph, but he threatened to sell a copy of the photo to the tabloids shortly thereafter. The couple subsequently contacted the FBI, and Kayalar was deported, but Kayalar's menacing continued via email.
Kayalar has been charged with one charge of extortion which carries a maximum sentence of two years.
Since he turned himself in, we bet he gets less than two years, but any time is better than no time at all.
Scumbag!
