Iran Bans Makeup On Television

We can't even imagine!

Iran's state television is banning makeup for women, as well as "abnormal," music and "unruly children."

Apparently, any woman who is taped wearing makeup will be taken off the air - wearing makeup is against the law in Iran, despite the fact that a large portion of the women still use it. The state is banning the makeup because there, "should be no insulting of family elders or children," and makeup is apparently offensive to both.

State television is already markedly unpopular in Iran; the programs are considering boring and lack appeal to the middle class. Consequently, television viewers are tuning into foreign networks for their television more and more.

We don't think that banning makeup will up the ratings! If anything, it only further isolates the urban middle class.

Makes us thankful for the good ol' U.S. of A!
