This is pretty smart.

Mark, Avon's make-up brand for young women, has launched a Facebook page that allows the beauty obsessed to buy their products online, making it the first sales widget for the beauty industry.

Launched November 19, the sales tool creates a community for members to socialize and make purchases without ever getting up from the couch and answering the door when those pesky Avon ladies come knocking.

Claudia Poccia, head of the Mark brand says of their new plan:

“Some 123 years ago, the representative would go door to door, geography to geography, selling to her friends and family — her social network. Mark is taking direct selling from door to door, to [Facebook’s] wall to wall.”

And this is only the beginning.

After realizing that email blasts are a crap shoot Mark has realized social-networking is the way to go and have set aside $50 million for social network marketing over the next few years.

We have a feeling social networks are about to get flooded with this kind of stuff.
