Feel The Burn From Shopping!

As if the ladies needed another reason to fuel their shopping habit.

According to a recent study conducted by Skinny Cow (yes the maker of ice cream products), the average woman burns 48,000 calories a year just by walking around shopping.

Dayum! That's a lot!

The study revealed that women take up to 132 shopping trips each year which some how magically adds up to almost 160 hours of walking at a "fast pace".

At 5 calories a minute a shop-a-holic can burn around 47,700 over a 12 month period. We're guessing the extra 3,000 comes from holiday shopping or those nights your lookin' to get lucky after breaking up with your douche of a boyfriend.

A Skinny Cow spokesperson said of the research findings:

"With the festive celebrations well and truly over, women across the country are now looking for the perfect fitness regime for the New Year. Women love to shop, so what better way to get into shape than to exercise at the January sales. If women planned to spend two hours at the shops, rather than the average one hour, they could double their calories burned each month to a staggering 8,000 - just through shopping."

We're sure many fitness experts would argue that shopping alone isn't enough to get you in shape, especially since the calculations include grocery shopping. So just because you're perusing the ice cream aisle for an extra 30 minutes doesn't mean you shouldn't hit up the gym every now and then.
