FDA Cracks Down On Tanning Regulations

The tanning industry is taking a lot of hits lately!

Not long ago, studies proved that indoor tanning is more dangerous than arsenic and certainly can cause cancer. Shortly thereafter, the tanning tax was proposed.

Now, the FDA is working to make stricter regulations for tanning beds, including more visible warnings about the dangers of tanning. Apparently, many of those tanning don't understand how real and possible the risks are, in large part because they are downplayed by tanning salons.

The Indoor Tanning Association claims there is no new science to justify increased regulation, stating that they "protected the freedom of individuals to acquire a suntan."

Sounds like a pretty weak argument - no one is attempting to outlaw tanning, just to make sure consumers are fully informed before fake baking.

It's never bad to be informed, especially when one's health is at stake!

The question now is whether or not warnings will actually dissuade people form fake tanning. We're pretty sure nothing will come in between the Jersey Shore crew and their beautification rituals!
