It's almost been 55 years since Marilyn Monroe's dress flew up while stepping over a subway grate in The Seven Year Itch, people are getting inspired by the iconic actress' clothing.

But Protec-Style Lingerie's Linda Lord was more drawn to what Marilyn was wearing under the dress, rather than the actual dress itself, which is how her Norma Jean panties came about.

However, the underwear isn't as seksi as it may sound.

The Canadian company's underwear is made of absorbent and stain-resistant fabrics.

Hawt!

Linda explains: "I felt there was a need for something between a glamour garment and a disposable garment, and I couldn't find anything on the market."

We don't know if this is a smart idea or gross. Maybe a little of both. But we're sure those hip grannies are more than excited.

The protective undies are being sold both online and in specialty boutiques and pharmacies right next to the Depends.
