Nail Polish That Lasts A Month? Yup, It's Real!

Here's something we're guessing nail divas will love.

Usually just a few days after a manicure, your polish begins to chip. But Creative Nail Design has been working on a "hybrid nail polish" for the past five years.

The innovative nail polish, called Shellac, is described as a "Hybrid Nail Color. On Like Polish. Wears Like Gel. Off In Minutes." And once applied, it can last for over two weeks.

The gel should be applied and removed by a professional. It goes on normally with a base coat, two color coats, and then a top coat. But after each coat your nails will now go under a special ultraviolet light box which will also leave your nails dry as soon as you're done.

Removing the polish will take about 10 to 25 minutes as each nail needs a special, wraparound sleeve placed over it and worn for several minutes.

Though Hannah Lee, editor of Nails magazine, reveals there are plenty similar polishes being release. Says Lee, “This year has been a huge boom in these soak-off gels. Everyone is coming out with them.”

However, the new gel polishes won't work for everyone. One CND nail technician reveals “If your nails are dry, or there’s flaking of the natural nail, it will crack or chip where those peelings are."

Shellac will hit stores nationwide this May 1st.
