Coach Inc has opened its first online store in China.
The online store, which opened yesterday and will run through January 15th, is being hosted on e-commerce site Taobao Mall.
Coach China’s president and chief executive officer reveals:
“The new store will help us increase our understanding of the needs and preferences of China’s online shoppers, helping us accumulate valuable experience in China’s e-commerce landscape and gaining insights to potentially pave the way for the development and launch of a permanent online Coach store in China.”
Coach is trying hard to increase its presence in China. They’ve listed depository receipts on the Hong Kong stock exchange.
Last month they even flew in Gwyneth Paltrow, their current brand ambassador, to entertain the crowds.
They currently have 71 locations across Greater China with sales bringing in over $185 million for the 2011 fiscal year.
