Things are already starting to get nasty in the breach of contract lawsuit between Martha Stewart and Macy's.
In the semi-confidential court docs, the department store claims Stewart's new deal with JCPenney "has severely damaged the ‘crucial connection’ between Macy’s and Martha Stewart" and "has destroyed the public perception that Macy’s is the only place a consumer can turn to to purchase Martha Stewart home products in key categories".
Macy's then deals a low blow by calling JCPenney "a less upscale retailer" and by selling Martha Stewart products other lines of business will suffer as well.
Ouch.
Your move, Martha.
