American Apparel's looking for plus-size models or in their case "Next Big Thing".

Last week the clothing company launched their online model search, which is exactly like their butt model search: girls submit their photos and then they're judged on a scale of "Not Quite" to "XLent".

The casting call site reads:

Calling curvy ladies everywhere! Our best-selling Disco Pant (and around 10 other sexy styles) are now available in size XL, for those of us who need a little extra wiggle room where it counts. We're looking for fresh faces (and curvaceous bods) to fill these babies out. If you think you've got what it takes to be the next XLent model, send us photos of you and your junk to back it up.

Just send us two recent photographs of yourself, one that clearly shows your face and one of your body. We'll select a winner to be flown out to our Los Angeles headquarters to star in your own bootylicious photoshoot. Runners up will win an enviable assortment of our favorite new styles in XL!

Show us what you're workin' with!

So far AA's received 323 submissions and we gotta say the competition's pretty fierce!

Yikes.

An American Apparel employee died on Friday after an industrial accident at the clothing company's Garden Grove factory.

According to the Orange County coroner, 49 year old Tuan Phan's death was a result of being crushed by a circular knitting machine.

What a terrible way to go!

This is the second death at an American Apparel factory in the past year.

So far, no comment from AA.

American Apparel is again in the middle of another controversy.

This time it centers around their “Teenagers Do It Better" t-shirt.

Apparently the shirt was made in collaboration with magazine Ey! Magateen which supports "the magnificent vitality, energy and power of young male adulthood."

The tee is currently on sale for $24, but people are obviously bothered by the slogan.

But the question remains, do U find this t-shirt offensive or are people just overreacting? Let us know…

American Apparel Teams Up With eBay

Shopping for American Apparel online is about to get easier.

The hipster retailer is teaming up with eBay to launch their own storefront on the auction website starting in September.

When asked about the reasoning behind the new partnership, CEO Dov Charney explained:

"There are more than 30,000 searches for American Apparel on eBay each month and right now those customers are not buying from us directly. I’m excited to connect that demand with our vertically integrated production and distribution platform to create a new revenue channel for American Apparel."

Is it really that difficult for people to go their actual website AmericanApparel.net???

Besides, we all know the real reason why people are browsing eBay for American Apparel: to get it for less.

Look Out Europe! American Apparel's Coming For You!

Because business is all rainbows and unicorns here in the States, American Apparel is expanding to highbrow department store in Europe.

American Apparel and highbrow? Those are two words that don't belong in the same sentence!

UK department store Selfridges plans to carry the overpriced generic clothing at six more stores in the next year and France's Galeries Lafayette is expected to do the same.

There's also a rumor that Bloomingdale's in the US will carry AA as well, but the deal has yet to be finalized.

As for why they're going the department store route, sources say it's "a way for the company to expand its business without spending a lot of capital".

Think it'll work???
