In an explosive new book House of Versace, author Deborah Ball reveals that Donatella Versace's good friend Elton John staged an intervention at her daughter Allegra's 18th birthday back in 2004.
A concerned Elton told her assistant that they were "doing nothing but enabling Donatella by protecting her. She's going to die if we don't do something!"
At the time, Donatella was spiraling out of control due to her unhealthy and almost deadly coke addiction. The white pony made the head of the fashion house paranoid, semi-coherent, erratic and her mood swings scared the shiz out of her kids.
How sad!
Two weeks before the much needed intervention, Donatella was so strung out on coke during a dress rehearsal two body guards had to sit on either side of her on the couch to prop her up.
Yikes!
The ghost of Lindsay Lohan's future is also said to have enjoyed going on 3 day blow benders with Madonna's brother Christopher Ciccone and (not surprisingly) Courtney Love.
Thankfully, Donatella accepted the rehab hand out and immediately boarded a plane to a treatment facility in Arizona.

You desperately need to either fire your stylist or get one because your fashion choices as of late have been nothing but disastrous.
"Lola" showed up to the Grammys wearing a half and half Versace dress that was looking a little too tight on the Victoria Beckham sized singer.
On top of the confusing dress her makeup is way too harsh and almost makes her look like New York City's Cat Lady Jocelyn Wildenstein.

Italian fashion house Versace is doing everything they can to break even by 2011 and they're doing everything they can to cut costs and increase revenue.
CEO Gian Giacomo Ferraris' has already made the decision to slash roughly 25% of their workforce along with closing down both their US press offices and accessories factory in Milan.
But in order to counter act the cuts and closures Versace has launched a lower-priced Versace Collection that will cost 30-40% cheaper than their main line and an even lower priced line designed by Christopher Kane called Versus.
It also looks like Versace will be following in King Giorgio's footsteps and plans to open up a hotel-residence in Dubai.
Oh, and we can't forget they're attempting to sell what will probably be a ridiculously priced cell phone.
Seems like they're putting all their eggs in different high priced baskets. Hopefully it'll work out for them.

And so it begins.
As we mentioned last year, Versace has had to cut 350 jobs or 25% of its worldwide workforce in order to become profitable once again.
Unfortunately, those plans seem to be starting sooner rather than later. The cuts were supposed to begin in the middle of the year, but now it looks like the date was bumped up to March.
Sad.
Let's hope their so called restructuring plan works!
