Meryl Wears March, Again!

See, good things can come out of being a contestant on Project Runway.

Designer Chris March, who appeared on Season 4 of the fashion reality show, had the pleasure of designing not one but two dresses for actress Meryl Streep.

The first was a black ensemble that she wore to the Golden Globes and most recently to Sunday night's Oscars. After almost fainting to first go around, Chris was more calm when she dialed him up again.

So how did he come up with her latest dress?

March explains:

"She was dying to wear two matching Fred Leighton Art Deco black and diamond bracelets, and wanted something white and Old Hollywood glamour to go with them. Her only requirement was a fabulously plunging neckline. I worked on a classic but modernized silhouette [and] I think we really knocked it out of the park; between the hair, makeup, jewelry and the dress she is all over the Best Dressed Lists. She is an absolute jewel!"

We must say, Meryl looked absolutely lovely on the red carpet. The design was perfect!

Sandra Bullock Is Good For The Fashion Business

Not only can Sandra Bullock sell movie tickets, she can also sell dresses!

The Wall Street Journal reports that of all the Oscar nominated actresses this year Sandy is the one who is most likely to generate sales for the label who dresses her.

Case in point is the Vivienne Westwood dress she wore to the People's Choice Awards. According to StyleSpot.com, which tracks a celeb's ability to make things fly off the racks, that dress recieved the most click-throughs to retail sites of all red-carpet appearances this year.

To be fair, there's only been a handful of major awards shows for 2010 which means later in the year Sandra could easily be dominated by someone else.

Vogue's Hamish Bowles believes other red carpet ladies like Meryl Streep and Gabourey Sidibe could top the list after the Oscars. Hamish explains that the Precious star is "an alternate paradigm for the red carpet, but she can carry these very strong colors" and is appealing for the plus-size market.

Inneresting.

Which actress' dress would U buy???

Meryl Wears March!

You don't have to win Project Runway to reap the benefits of the design savvy show!

Chris March has enjoyed considerable success since his stint on Project Runway, and now his success is even more palpable: a month before Sunday's Golden Globes awards, March was approached to design the awards show dress for for double-nominee Meryl Streep.

What a huge honor! And that doesn't look bad on your resume, either!

Apparently, the designer had originally met the actress through her hair and makeup team, and she requested him to do her look. And we loved the outcome! She looked beautiful and elegant.

March said:

"I wanted to faint [when they asked me]! I have always wanted to design something for someone like that, and it was a great and amazing opportunity…. I liked the idea of putting a belt on an evening gown - I think it gives a modern twist. I sketched it out quickly and she really liked it.

She is the sweetest person you can imagine. She's very friendly and welcoming and I wasn't nervous at all. I almost had a heart attack when Colin Farrell read her name. It was very exciting to see her come up on stage wearing a dress that I made with my own two hands. I thought it made her look tall and thin and comfortable and confident. It looked great!"

We agree! She must have been very pleased.

Congrats to the designer and actress on their respective honors!

Stars Auction Globes Outfits For Haiti

This is a great idea.

Sources are reporting that several stars are auctioning their Golden Globes outfits in an effort to raise funds in support of relief for Haiti.

Among those putting their designer duds on the auction block are Meryl Streep, Olivia Wilde, Josh Brolin, Amy Pohler, and Gerard Butler.

We hope that's not ALL! We don't know why every single celebrity in attendance wouldn't do the same, especially the ladies who, will truly never wear those dresses ever again.

Good for those who are stepping up to the plate though. Olivia, whose sparkly dress is appearing on Best Dressed lists already, said, "It's my way of turning all this fashion madness into something positive."

A very admirable goal!

The red carpet ensembles will be sold this week on eBay through Artists For Peace with 100% of the proceeds going to the Haitian community.

A very noble and needed cause!
