Pene Gets To First Base

We've been spoiled by Penelope Cruz. The Spanish actress has had so many spectacular red carpet moments - we were underwhelmed by her Golden Globes look on Sunday (Armani Prive).

While this would be a home run for anyone else, on Pene it just looks okay.

But at least she's consistent!

The Ladies Of Nine Hit New York

The ladies of Nine hit the red carpet again last night for the film's New York premiere, and the fashion verdict is a bit different than in London.

Kate Hudson wore a Chanel fall 09 sequined dress with a train. We want so badly to like this on her, but we think it's just ok. The hair is definitely better this time, though we think it's all wrong for the dress. Too soft for such a bold dress. Don't get us wrong, we don't hate the ensemble, it's just not a homerun.

Penelope Cruz played up classic glamour, wearing a gorgeous one should red satin gown. We love the way the dress accentuates her curves, we love the hair, and we love love the jewelry! We only wish we could see it in real life, as the color clearly didn't photograph as well as it looked in the flesh.

We've been dying for Marion Cotillard to show her face on the red carpet at the Nine premieres, and she finally did last night, bringing her A game. She looks absolutely stunning in her Dior gown and long Chopard beads. Her makeup is so striking, and her hair looks polished and pretty. We think she wins the gold medal of the night!

Fergie surprised us on the red carpet looking actually really pretty in Marchesa Resort 2010. The contrast between her hair and the gown is gorgeous, and whoever did her makeup deserves a raise. Her face looks soft and pretty, very romantic, a big difference from the harsh tones she usually toys around with. Well done!

As we mentioned before, Nicole Kidman had some issues with her makeup. Otherwise, she served up another snoozefest in her black Prada gown. At least it's better than the PTA attire she wore last time.

Overall, we say the winner is Marion. What do U think?? Which Nine star was best dressed last night in New York?

And So The World Tour Begins

The ladies of Nine hit the red carpet in London last night for the flick's world premiere at the Odeon Leicester Square.

Best dress of them all was our girl Penelope Cruz, who couldn't look bad if she tried. Wearing a gorgeous gown from Ralph Lauren's Spring 2010 collection, she looked elegant and understated.

We love the hair, the low key accessories and her makeup. Well done!

Second best dressed was Kate Hudson, who could have almost beaten Pene if she had bothered to do her hair. She looks like she just got out of bed with that hair. That aside, her gorgeous Atelier Versace gown almost doesn't require a real hair 'do, it's so beautiful. Almost.

Looking super fug, Nicole Kidman ruined the fashion parade by dressing like she was going to fight a traffic ticket in court. Why would she wear such an outfit? Isn't she supposed to be some kind of fashion icon?

No word on where lovely French fry Marion Cotillard was, but we wish she'd made an appearance because we're sure she would have given Kate and Pene a run for their money.

Can't wait for the next premiere!

Penelope Cruz Graces Another Cover

Katie Couric, take note!

Looking stunning as usual, Penelope Cruz graces the cover of the upcoming issue of Interview Magazine, shot by Mikael Jansson.

Inside the pages, Cruz's Nine co-star, Marion Cotillard, commands the interview with insightful questions that elicit great revealing responses. Check out some of the highlights:

When asked what films she watched growing up:
A lot of Pedro Almodóvar’s movies, actually—I got obsessed with him at an early age. I watched every one of his movies on the Betamax. It wasn’t until he released Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! [1990] that I finally saw one of his movies in a theater. I remember I had to take the bus and the metro to get there. I went alone and lied about my age because I was not 16 yet, and that’s how old you had to be to go. After I saw the movie, I took a walk by myself around Madrid. That was the day that I decided that I would at least try to get an agent and be an actress.

When asked how she chooses her roles:
I try to look at the whole thing and say yes to the projects that I cannot stop thinking about. If I read a script and the subject stays with me—then that’s when I want to go to work. Before, I was very addicted to being on set, and I was doing three or four movies a year for many years. Now, fortunately, I can go to work only when I am passionate about a project, and the rest of the time, I can live my life. I’m not interested in doing movies just as a marathon. When I go to work now, I have much more to give. But the other way, you get empty.

On whether or not she remembers her dreams:
Yes, because when I am dreaming at night, I see everything as a shot from a movie. I have cranes and extras in my dreams. [Cotillard laughs] I swear to you! It doesn’t happen every day, but many nights my dreams are like a movie. I don’t see normal movement—I see things in very complicated shots. That’s why I do remember many of them.

On the four guests she would invite to dinner if she could pick anyone:
This is very interesting. I would take Federico Fellini, Billy Wilder, Woody Allen, and Pedro Almodóvar, and I would make broken eggs, which is a Spanish dish. It’s all fried, and it’s very fattening, with a lot of oil, salt, eggs, and potatoes. I know how to make it, and it’s so greasy, but there is a truth to it. Can you imagine this group?

On whether or not she is confident in herself:
No. [laughs] I think about that a lot. It doesn’t matter if you have more success or less success—confidence is not really measured by that. I think most actors . . . We are insecure, in general. I think to be an actor, you need to have an ego, but then, our ego is our worst enemy.

We love!

The rest of the interview is really great, and the chemistry between these two women is evident, which makes us excited to see Nine. Check out the full exchange on InterviewMagazine.com.

Enjoy!
