Eco-Friendly Denim Comes To Topshop

Filed Under: Anglophilia Fashion Smashion Pharrell Collection's Bureau Gap

topshop-collaborates-with-bionic-yarn-on-sustainable-jeans.jpg

Topshop is following Gap's footsteps and getting eco-friendly with their denim.

The UK retailer collaborated with Bionic Yarn, which is backed by N.E.R.D's Pharrell Williams, on a 3 piece collection of sustainable denim made from plastic bottle fibers.

Amazing!

Pharrell says of the fabric: "the coolest thing about Bionic Yarn is that the fabric is actually superior to the average fabric…and the pieces look so good."

All three pieces launched on Monday and range in price from $70 to $100.

Hopefully this collab will lead to others, especially since there's so many bottles thrown away each year.

Pharrell Scoops Up A Lawsuit Over Ice Cream Clothing

Filed Under: Fashion Smashion Pharrell Legal Matters

wenn2901968_e.jpg

N.E.R.D's Pharrell Williams is suing the Gilmar Group after they blocked a trademark application for his Ice Cream clothing line.

The Italian fashion firm believe the music producer's label is too similar to their Ice and Iceberg labels.

But Pharrell begs to differ. He explained that adding the word 'cream', which is slang for money, "creates a vastly different sound, appearance, meaning and overall commercial impression."

We compared Williams' clothing to Iceberg's and they're completely different.

Team Pharrell!

Filed Under: Jake Gyllenhaal Pharrell David Beckham Alec Baldwin Javier Bardem Lady GaGa Michelle Obama Diane Kruger Tory Burch John Galliano Maggie Gyllenhaal alber elbaz Carey Mulligan Christy Turlington Vanity Fair

gaga_vanityfair_sept_e1.jpg

It seems like every month a different magazine comes out with their own "Best-Dressed" list, this time around it's Vanity Fair.

The mag has named their International Best-Dressed, which is about "individual taste, not fashion trends".

Vanity Fair's list included mostly celebs and royals from around the world, but we picked out the more well known who made top honors.

And the best-dressed of 2010 are:

Diane Kruger
Carey Mulligan
Michelle Obama
Carla Bruni-Sarkozy
Javier Bardem
Pharrell Williams
Alec Baldwin
Alber Elbaz
Tory Burch
Georgina Chapman
Lady GaGa
John Galliano
Helena Bonham Carter
Maggie & Jake Gyllenhaal
Christy Turlington
David Beckham

We're kind of surprised by a couple of names on there, but for the most part we agree.

Do U???

Pharrell Designs Men's Jackets!

Filed Under: Fashion Smashion Pharrell Collection's Bureau

pharrell-moncler01.jpg

Pharrell Williams has partnered up with Moncler to create an all-black line of special edition men's jackets.

The collection is a clear reflection of Pharrell's environmental consciousness: all of the jackets are comprised of fabrics from Pharrell's company, Bionic, a textile manufacturer that creates yarns and fabrics from recycled plastic bottles.

Pharrell says he is "honored," to work with Moncler, noting that the pairing was somewhat serendipitous: everything came together quickly after he met Moncler chairman Remo Ruffini by chance at last year's Miami Art Basel showcase. "I told him I loved his stuff and he offered to do something together, so we started tossing ideas around," said Pharrell.

Ruffini weighs in, saying "Pharrell represents a visionary and contemporary eclecticism, as well as a multifaceted way of interpreting creativity from different standpoints, ranging from music to applied arts and clothing."

In that vein (and making matters even cooler), all of the jackets are lined with nature images shot at dusk by Japanese artist Keita Sugiura.

While prices and distribution details are still being worked out, we can't wait to see the full collection! Pharrell has great style and a creative eye, so we're sure whatever he brings to the table will be unique and interesting.

Exciting!
