Digital Mall Kiosks Will Scan Shoppers For A More Personalized Experience

Earlier this week, Microsoft presented a new point of sale software at National Retail Federation Conference in New York City that is borderline creepy.

The Windows Embedded POSReady 7 program will use motion capture technology, just like the Kinect for Xbox 360, to scan live data ti estimate gender, height, weight, ethnicity, and age as shoppers walk past store windows.

Based on all those characteristics, retailers can then create personalized live ads for each shopper on the spot.

It has the potential to be cool, but at the same time we can't help but get the heebie-jeebies.

What do U think about this new technology???

Photo Ban At Dolce & Gabbana Hong Kong Sparks Protest

Thousands gathered outside of Dolce & Gabbana's Hong Kong flagship this weekend to protest the store's newly imposed photo ban.

According to news reports the D&G has put the kibosh on Hong Kong citizens taking pictures outside the store, but foreign and mainland Chinese tourists are more than welcome to snap away.

Umm, WTF!?

A rep for the Italian brand claims their new "policy" is to protect its intellectual property, but there's a rumor going around that says that's a bunch of bull.

A source told the Hong Kong Standard a "well-known mainlander, possibly a government official" was shopping in the store and complained to D&G about the photo taking outside. The so-called "mainlander" feared those pictures would end up online and link his shopping trip to corruption.

Wow. Paranoid much?

We can understand not taking pictures inside the store, but outside is taking it too far especially when it's a public sidewalk.

What do U think???
