China Seeks Alternatives To Animal Testing For Cosmetics!

Filed Under: Beauty Buzz Woof Woof Business Blitz Makeup Magic!

china animal testing

Glorious news!

China's State Food and Drug Administration has recently released a draft proposal approving the use of animal testing alternatives.

Having spent twelve months on research of alternative testing, Beijing Technology & Business University's Professor Zhao Hua acknowledges that animal welfare and protection is becoming more and more popular with the development of the economy.

So logistically speaking, it only makes sense to move past dated methods of testing.

Another diligent researcher behind the movement is Anthony James. CU Hong Kong's head of Laboratory Animal Services states:

"Cosmetics are by and large not a medical product saving lives. It’s not a need, it’s a want. There has to be a higher bar set for animal testing for cosmetics and it shouldn’t be permissible at all where there are alternatives."

Well said!

Words can't express how encouraging it is to see the world of beauty take a more progressive route all over the world!

Fergie's Getting Wet 'N' Wild

Filed Under: Beauty Buzz Fergie Ad Campaigns

fergie-the-new-face-of-wet-n-wild-cosmetics.jpg

Wet 'n' Wild has selected Fergie to be their new spokeswoman, making her the cosmetic company's first celebrity face ever.

Fergie says she's been using Wet 'n' Wild products since she was simply known as Stacy Ann Ferguson from Hacienda Heights, California:

"For me, this is really no risk whatsoever; it has always been a part of my life, so it is natural to me…In Hacienda Heights, there were a lot of beautiful chola girls. They wore Wet ‘n’ Wild. I would watch them put on their eyeliners and lip liners at school. The big thing for the eyeliners was to heat them up and put on the black eyeliners smooth. They would also line their lips with dark lip liner.…Their faces were like palettes. I would try to emulate them."

As the face of the brand, Fergie Ferg will appear in the print campaign, which debuts at the end of summer, and play a prominent role in the eye, lip and nail categories.

Sounds like a match made in makeup heaven!

Fujifilm To Expand Its Beauty Line Into Europe

Filed Under: Beauty Buzz Business Blitz

astalift-by-fujifilm.jpg

Fujifilm might be known primarily when it comes to electronics, but the Tokyo-based company is branching out — into cosmetics!

A bit random, no?

Turns out though that Fujifilm actually launched an anti-aging skin care line, Astalift, in Japan back in 2007. The brand is now the fourth largest skin care brand in Japan.

Just last year they branched out into China with plans to enter France this coming February and then Spain, Germany and the UK later next year.

Andrzej Brylak, director of Fujifilm’s European health and beauty division, reveals:

“One of the problems with photography [is] anti-oxidization — how to protect the picture, the colors, how to preserve the material and fight with oxygen. And this is also one of the problems with the skin.”

The company seems to be doing well with Astalift as their revenues were at $134.6 million last year.

No date has been given as to when they plan on entering the US so for now plans are only to expand in Europe and nearby.

Would U try Astalift?
