Abercrombie & Fitch is suing a Florida retail chain for allegedly jacking their Hollister seagull logo.
According to the court docs filed in Miami, Surf Style used a flying seagull that was "identical, or nearly identical, and confusingly similar to A&F’s seagull mark".
Abercrombie gave them a chance to avoid a suit by sending them a cease-and-desist letter in May 2010. Surf Style made an agreement with the preppy clothing company to stop using the rat with wings in July, but never followed through.
Now, A&F is not only seeking an injunction against the basic t-shirt company, but also wants them to destroy the infringing products and pay them in monetary damages.
A lawyer for Surf Style thinks the lawsuit is ridiculous since seagulls are so closely related to the beach.

This is a new low.
Abercrombie & Fitch' sister company Hollister forced one of their UK employees to remove her poppy pin because it wasn't part of the brand's "uniform".
Seriously?
For those not in the know, the UK & Canada celebrate Veterans Day as Remembrance Day. In the weeks leading up to November 11th, poppies are worn to honor war veterans.
Harriet Phipps, the 18 year old Hollister employee, was wearing hers for a friend and grandfather. She told the BBC:
"We provide an image of what the clothes would look like for the customers, and because the poppy is not uniform I was told I should not wear it. It’s respect. These are people who fought for our country. Why can’t I just wear a little red poppy?"
A&F quickly went into damage control mode and issued the following statement:
"As an American company that has been in existence since 1892, we very much appreciate the sacrifices of both British and American servicemen and women in the World Wars and in military conflicts that continue to this day. Our company policy is currently to permit associates to wear a poppy as a token of this appreciation on Remembrance Day. In the future, we will revisit, in light of local custom, whether to extend the policy to the days or weeks leading up to Remembrance Day."
Good idea, Aber.

This is getting out of control!
Victoria's Secret is the latest NYC retailer to be affected by bedbugs.
The Lexington Avenue lingerie store shut down on Wednesday to treat the problem. And while their problem wasn't as bad as Hollister or Abercrombie, they destroyed all the panties and other merchandise that may have been affected.
Vicky's is also having their other NYC locations tested for bedbugs, just to be on the safe side.

They're spreading like wildfire!
One day after closing their Soho Hollister location, Abercrombie & Fitch has shut down the South Street Seaport store on Friday due to bedbugs.
Gross!
If you happen to be in New York and want some A&F clothing, go to the 5th Avenue location. The preppy retailer has tested that store and there's not a bedbug to be found — yet.

The Hollister store located in New York's SoHo area was shut down today because of a terrible bedbug infestation!!!
Ewwwwww!
The bug problem was initially reported about 3 weeks ago by a manager and an employee, but the store refused to do anything about it. As the infestation got worse, Hollister workers began to be covered in bug bites while one employee found an actual exoskeleton hanging off her clothes.
Since Hollister decided to neglect the problem, anyone who shopped at the store could have carried the bedbugs home with them and we all know what that means: lawsuits!
After this, they certainly deserve any legal problems that come their way.
