Shoppers Are Tired Of Bad Customer Service

Filed Under: Business Blitz Retail Therapy

While the economy hasn’t improved much lately, it seems the same applies to customer service.

A new survey shows that most Americans are unhappy with the service they receive from some of the largest retailers out there.

About 67% have reported they hang up on a call before even getting their problem addressed while 64% walk out of the store due to bad customer service.

As for the biggest issues people deal with, it's not being able to reach a person on the phone and dealing with rude salespeople.

One company who doesn’t have to worry too much about negative reviews is Apple Inc who was rated to have the most knowledgeable staff and offered good tech support over the phone.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc, along with Sam’s Club, were among the worst when it came to buying items and had the least capable associates.

For the frequent fliers out there, Southwest Airlines Co came in as having the best staff on its planes (doesn’t it seem like they’re always throwing out corny jokes on the speaker?) while the worst was US Airways.

Who do U think is the best/worst when it comes to customer service?

Goodbye Zellers, Hello Target!

Filed Under: Canadialand Business Blitz Target

zellers-to-be-purchased-by-target-for-18-billion.jpg

Target will soon be invading our Canadian neighbors.

The US retail giant is set to buy Canadian retail chain Zellers from Hudson’s Bay Co.

The price tag? Just a mere $1.8 BILLION!

Target will take over 220 Zellers locations in Canada which will continue to operate under their current name for a period of time.

But by 2013, Target will begin to convert 100 to 150 of those locations to Target stores. The rest of the store leases will be sold to other retailers.

According to a release by HBC:

"This transaction provides attractive long-term value and will allow us to invest substantial capital into our department store and specialty store businesses to continue to drive growth."

Will U miss your local Zellers?

Vera Wang On Her New Collection

Filed Under: Business Blitz Vera Wang

wenn27606224.jpg

As we previously mentioned, Vera Wang will soon be offering her wedding dresses through retail giant, David's Bridal.

The dresses will be retailing for less than $2,000 each and will be available in sizes 0 to 30.

And now Wang is speaking out about her latest business venture. Says Vera:

"It’s been in the works a very, very, very long time. Part of the joy is that, with their power as retailers, I can create outside of the $20,000 range.

I think it’s time to get more than 10,000 women a year, you know? Why should price dictate if you have great taste? I don’t believe in that."

Neither do the thousands of other brides you'll be making happy.

And although Wang doesn't know yet how the look of her new line will differ, she reveals:

"I’m fairly good at adapting. But it’s great. It’s very freeing. At the upper end, I always have to keep the ball rolling and it’s pretty heavy-duty lifting. David Bridal’s is going to be play. But the audience is very full. So all of that development, twenty years of my life — my design team, technical knowledge — I can just take advantage of it now."

Can't wait to see what she creates!

British Stores Alter Their Sizes To Make Women Feel Skinnier!

wenn54351414.jpg

Seems certain retailers in the UK are doing something known as "vanity sizing."

So depending on what store you go to, and who their target customers are, you might think you're fitting into a smaller sized outfit, when in reality you're actually not.

A new study found that stores ten to flatter their customers by making clothes bigger and having their consumers believe they need to buy a smaller size.

The study found that several stores, such as Marks & Spencer and Gap, kept their size labels the same but made their outfits larger.

A rep for Gab didn't confirm the finding, instead stating that its sizes "depend on the fit and style."

Shouldn't everyone just stick to the same sizing scale? It'd make shopping in different stores a lot easier.

Padded Bikinis For Little Girls

wenn23995852.jpg

With some racy, children's clothing lines being launched, parents are taking offense and demanding to stop sexualizing kids.

And if they were bothered before, people will be fuming mad now.

Turns out the British clothing chain Primark is selling padded bikini tops to little girls!!!

WTF?!?

The store is selling the padded tops for just £4. The swimsuits are targeted at 7 and 8-year-olds and are said to give kids a "breast shape" with their halterneck tops.

Several children's groups are protesting to have the swimsuits removed claiming it's aiding in making young girls targets for sickos.

One child protection consultant reveals:

“It never fails to amaze me just how many high street household names are now prepared to exploit the disgusting ‘paedophile pound’.

You should never sexualise children. Kids may be learning how to look sexy in an adult way but no one is teaching them what to do if they receive unwelcome robust adult attention.”

Thankfully Primark pulled the tops from their stores. Nice outcome, but why even sell them to begin with?

Thoughts???
