David Beckham's H&M Manties Commercial Is Here!

He may have been "evil," but Yves Saint Laurent had some very nice possessions, and soon they could be yours.
Pierre Berge, the late designer's partner, is auctioning off YSL's personal affects in an effort to liquidate their "art-and-knicknack-filled residences." This is the second auction Berge has hosted for this purpose. The first auction took place back in February and sold the couple's extensive art collection which included works by Picasso, Ingers, and Mondrian, making 342 million euros.
Jeez!
This follow-up auction is likely to raise another whopping sum; items to be auctioned include gilded armchairs used by Queen Hortense of Holland for a costume ball in 1812 (expected to go for 7,000-9,000 euros), crystal chandeliers, a 1949 gouache painting by Fernand Leger (expected to go for $75,000-105,000), the Cartier watch YSL wore, the 18th century porcelain he used, and much, much more.
Christie's furniture specialist Simon de Monicault said, "
This was really a living collection built around comfort and the home. They kept very little information about where these objects came from….It's really very intimate and very personal and very different from the first auction, which was made up of museum-quality pieces. Beyond the usual collectors, we expect to get bidders who are seduced by the idea of owning something that was once used by Saint Laurent but maybe couldn't afford anything at the first sale."
Right. We hardly think shelling out thousands of dollars for a pair of YSL-used salt shakers is any more practical.
The auction will take place through Christie's from November 17th through November 20th with proceeds benefitting AIDS research.
Will you throw down some dollars to get a little piece of YSL?
