Kate Moss Takes Heat For Pushing Skinny

katemosscold.jpg

This has gotten way out of hand.

Kate Moss is under fire for allegedly having saying, "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels."

The media is having an absolute field day; The Sun newspaper in Britain interviewed model Katie Green, who has been working against the use of "size zero models," and said the comments were "shocking and irresponsible." Mary George of the British eating-disorder charity Beat said the comments were "very unfortunate."

We want to set the record straight.

First of all, this is full quotation from Kate's interview with WWD:

WWD: Do you have a motto?
KM: There are loads. There’s “Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.” That’s one of them. You try and remember, but it never works.

She's not making some grand declaration, but rather, she's explaining how she tries to keep her shape, and then admits that it doesn't work. For goodness sake, she is a model after all, and as much as we wish this weren't the case, staying thin comes with the territory. That said, it's not as though she's advocating starvation and size-zero frames.

Secondly, Kate didn't invent this saying. It's an age-old phrase. Unfortunately, over the years it has become a mantra for the eating disordered, and we do think that she should have been sensitive to this fact, but to us this seems like sort of an off-the-cuff, train-of-thought comment. We think everyone is overreacting.

What do U think?
