Grace Wanted Susan Boyle Instead Of Gaga For Vogue Spread

Well, this would have been a different spread entirely!

Grace Coddington recently revealed that for the gorgeous Hansel and Gretel spread featuring Lady Gaga as the witch, the Vogue creative director had originally wanted Susan Boyle rather than Gaga. In fact, it was Anna Wintour, who always has her finger on the pulse of cool, who suggested Gagaloo instead. Grace reveals:

"Annie Leibovitz wanted her too. But I think Anna thought it was all just too British and not right. I have to say, I didn't really know who Lady Gaga was. She turned up in a white rubber coat, stark naked underneath. No buttons, nothing - and completely, you know, shaved, and this huge wig because she's so insecure without it. But she was wonderful."

Grace, who famously dislikes working with celebrities, really took to Gaga, it seems! This is isn't the first time she's given props to the Lady. She explains, "I don't rule [celebrities] out altogether if they're the right person for the job. It's because of characters like [Gaga] that I still love my job."

We're glad that Anna suggested Gaga - not just because we adore our Gaga girl, but we really, really can't imagine the spread being one bit as fierce with SuBo as the witch. Can you?
