The Gucci Group has announced that Sarah Burton will take over the creative director position at Alexander McQueen.

Burton was the head of design of that label's women's wear since 2000 and was responsible for finishing Lee's final collection.

President and CEO of Alexander McQueen, Jonathan Akeroyd, said upon the announcement: "Having worked alongside Lee McQueen for more than 14 years, [Sarah] has a deep understanding of his vision, which will allow the company to stay true to its core values."

Sarah added "The creation of modern, beautifully crafted clothes was at the heart of Lee’s vision. I intend to stay true to his legacy.”

Sounds like she really is the best choice.

Congrats, Sarah! We can't wait to see your work!
