Cavalli Turns 40

cavalli_harpers_e.jpg

This year marks the 40th anniversary of Roberto Cavalli's label. To celebrate the milestone, he sat down with Harper's Bazaar to dish on all things fashion and what really ticks him off and turns him on.

Here's what Roberto had to say:

On other designers taking inspiration from his trademark ideas:
"In the beginning, when people copied me I was happy." But now, "I can understand when H&M or Zara copies me, but I hate it when big designers copy me. You have a big name, you should never copy me."

On the provenance of his trademark leopard print:
"God created such a fantastic world. Leopard is an animal design, and my designs come from nature."

On his love for fashion, and for women:
"Of course I think about a beautiful woman to dress, because that’s my way," he says with a shrug. Is there a difference? "Yes," he says. "I don’t masturbate thinking about fashion."

On what he loves about women:
"Their eyes. A woman can drive me crazy with her eyes. And when they don’t pay attention to me, they drive me crazy too. I am a completely typical man."

Cavalli also did a photo shoot for the mag with his wife and son Daniele. He's the one creeping against the tree with his guitar.

Inneresting.

On May 20th, H&M and Designers against AIDS are launching their Fashion Against AIDS campaign in 32 countries worldwide.

And now, their website FashionAgainstAids.com has finally launched to help spread the message.

The site includes information about the cause as well as messages on safe sex, video clips, and a place for users to upload their own clips, pictures, and comments.

And as we mentioned last month, H&M has released a festival-inspired collection which will raise money to create awareness about HIV/AIDS among youth.

According to the new site, for each purchase from their special collection, 25% of the sales prices goes towards HIV/AIDS prevention projects for kids all over the world.

Seems H&M is venturing into more of a rocker/indie/bohemian inspired look.

The fashion house has created a new collection for festival goers. And proceeds will go towards helping benefit their annual Fashion Against AIDs event

Says Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M’s head of design:

“For me, festivals are unique and inspirational places as they join both music and fashion. To see your favorite bands, to see creative people gathered, all from different nations and with different looks, really inspires me.”

The collection consists of about 20 pieces for the ladies, 12 for men, and several accessories including headphones, sleeping bags, and even a leopard-print tent!

And starring in their ad campaign is Lizzie Jagger, who's looking pretty fabulous.

But if you're interested in any of their new items, you'll need to wait. The collection goes on sale this May 20th in about 200 of H&M stores.

Companies doing good is always great news. And doing their part to help out the environment is H&M.

The company has just announced its Clothes for Kids program in celebration of Earth Day.

So starting April 22nd, H&M will be accepting "gently worn children's clothing" at any of its stores which sells their kid's collection.

The clothing drive will last until the 28th of April and will help benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs nationwide.

Nice!

And as an extra incentive, for those of you who participate in the clothing drive, you'll receive a 20% discount off your next H&M Kids purchase!
